Ever since I was a little girl, cooking has always held a special place in my heart. I love the planning, experimenting, presenting and most importantly the joy it brings. I have always seen and thought that food can bring people together like nothing else can. With food constantly on the brain, I achieved my Leith's Food & Wine diploma in 2013.
In spite of that, I spent my late teenage years eating badly and generally having an unhealthy lifestyle. In 2015 I made the decision to make a change. At a time when everyone was jumping on the healthy eating bandwagon, I too began to follow the green juice and “free from” healthy diet social media was promoting. I swapped baking brownies for avocado toast and parties for gym classes, concentrating entirely on my physical wellbeing.
I then went on to study at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where I qualified as a holistic health coach. With these skills in hand I started to develop recipes for various food companies and worked in multiple kitchens.
A few years on, I am now far more comfortable with the person I've become since making these major life changes. With that has also come a much more relaxed approach to my diet, one where the way I now eat benefits my mental as well as my physical health.
I have come to understand that following a restrictive diet and naming anything out of line with this as 'bad' or a 'cheat meal' is not a healthy way to live. I believe food is something that should be enjoyed and, when we eat a balanced diet, it is so much better and easier for us then sticking to rigid food plans. You will soon come to notice this is what Clean Geeg is all about!
